Lists can be those that exist in the SharePoint site where this web part is deployed, or can exist in any other SharePoint site or site collection. The important value-add of this web part is that lists in different SharePoint sites can be used without the need to use SharePoint Designer. An important feature of this web part is the ability to specify a design to view lists which is driven by XSL.
